Jess Cookies

These cookies are named after a friend who taught me how to make them. She got the recipe from an ex, and supposedly it's the ex's special secret recipe or something like that. Oh well. These cookies are ridiculously easy to make, and are always a hit.

makes between 20-24 cookies
you'll need:
-1 box yellow cake mix
-2 eggs
-1/3 cup canola oil
-2 plates

1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Take your two plates and put them in the freezer.
2. Combine mix, eggs, and oil. Use a spoon to scoop out balls of batter and place balls on a baking sheet that has either been greased or lined with parchment paper. Don't forget this part, or you'll be super bummed later.
3. Bake for about 8 minutes. If the cookies has started to brown, they are definitely done.
4. Remember those plates in the freezer? Well, those are for cooling your cookies. It helps them stay moist for days.

You can frost these cookies, like in the picture. My roommate and I found a great simple frosting recipe online that went perfectly with the cookies, but then we erased it off our dry-erase board before copying it down somewhere more permanent. But, a basic white frosting is made of butter, confectioners sugar and vanilla extract, among other ingredients, and is totally do-able, just search for a recipe that you like. You can also add chocolate chips to the batter. That is super tasty as well.

Welcome!

Hello and welcome. I'm Martha Stoner.

Since writing introductions isn't really my thing, I'll jump right into it. This blog came from my love of cooking and homemaking, as well as my love of greens, and I'm not talkin' spinach (though I do love spinach). I know, it seems a little odd. You might be asking "how can you craft while high?" or "won't she just forget she's cooking and burn everything?" or even "whatever, go find a drum circle hippie." Well I'm not a hippie, drum circles are boring, and while I have burned my share of quesedillas in my day, that doesn't mean I haven't learned.

I believe that making great food isn't just reserved for people with lots of time or money, and just because you're high doesn't mean that chips are your only munchie option. That crafting and creativity is super fun when you're baked, but that doesn't mean it's the best time to whip out the glue gun or sewing machine. I'm also a broke student, and believe that shouldn't limit anyone either.

So welcome to my blog. Let's get started, shall we?
